Pre booking consultation
This consultation is for us to meet and have a chat about what you are looking for in your midwife, what your thoughts about your pregnancy are and hopes for birth. Most independent midwives offer this service - you are not being assigned a midwife - you are choosing the person you feel is right to care for you. There is no obligation to go on and book your care with me.

Booking Appointment
On booking we will discuss your needs and relevant history in detail and this provides the foundation for safe care for you and your baby. We will explore what you hope for the pregnancy and birth and anything at all you feel is relevant to your childbirth experience. One of the main complaints women voice about care on the NHS is constantly seeing different midwives. Care from an independent midwife provides you with continuity of carer, reliability and the opportunity to build up a trusting relationship.

Ongoing antenatal care is provided at your home. Appointments are unhurried and the date and time is arranged for your convenience. There are no time limits for you appointments - it depends on what you want to talk about on the day. If there are hospital appointments you need to attend, I am happy to accompany you to maintain good informed care It often helps to have an extra pair of ears present!

Birth preparation / parent education
If I am providing full care for you, I see birth preparation and postnatal issues as ongoing throughout your antenatal period. However, when you feel ready, between 30-36 weeks I generally gear an appointment specifically to discussing your birth plan and choices.
